A few quick tips to help you with your meditation or mindfulness routine.

Are you bored with your normal meditation or mindfulness routine?

It’s a really common problem because our minds become so easily bored when you are doing the same thing over and over again. So the best way to perk up your practice is to change your routine a little bit.

If you normally sit in a firm dining room chair, then try sitting in a soft armchair.  I do this one fairly often as when I am sitting in a soft chair as opposed to a hard chair it’s a completely different sensation in my body.  It sends different signals up to my mind so it gives it something new to think about.

If you find you normally do your mediation facing one direction in your room, then very simply try switching your chair around so that you are facing a different area of the room.

You can also try meditating in different places in your house.  Sometimes I will meditate in the living room. If I have guests, I will meditate upstairs in the bedroom.  If it’s warm enough, I will sit in the conservatory.  Or, if it’s really warm and a lovely morning, then I will go outside and do some meditation.  That is really ace!

There are other things you can do apart from just sitting to meditate.  You can mediate in a completely different position like lying down or standing or walking.

If you want to find out a bit more about what those different types of posture involve, then I have written the blog “Choose your best mindfulness position” for you.  It goes through 6 different positions, the pros and cons and gives you a few tips on how to get started.

So if you fancy a read, pop over to the website and tell me what you think.
